Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS)
opened its 36th chapter in Coimbatore. This chapter envisages to
conduct seminar/ workshops to create awareness among practicing engineers,
faculty and students. Such seminars will provide an excellent platform for the
academicians, researchers, field engineers and students to share their
knowledge and experiences and for the exchange of new ideas of realm of
This workshop covers origin of soil, plasticity characteristics of soil and soil classification as per BIS 1498-1970. Also this workshop will give exposure to site investigations, ground improvement techniques, Foundation on expansive soils and determination of bearing capacity of soil by Plate load test. This knowledge and skills developed through this workshop will help the participants to develop useful knowledge on application of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering.
TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED:
Site Investigation and Subsoil Exploration
Foundation on expansive soils
